Dr. Stephen R. Kellert (1943-2016) was a Professor Emeritus at Yale University. His work focused on understanding the connection between nature and humanity with a particular interest in the human need for nature, and sustainable design and development. During his career, Dr. Kellert served on committees of the National Academy of Sciences, as a board of director of many organisations, and authored more than 150 publications, including 11 books such as: Birthright: People and Nature in the Modern World (Yale University Press, 2012); Biophilic Design: The Theory, Science, and Practice of Bringing Buildings to Life (John Wiley, 2008), Building for Life: Designing and Understanding the Human-Nature Connection (Island Press 2005).
