Merlyn is an architect and urban policy practitioner, pursuing a master’s degree in Sustainability Management at Columbia University, New York. Her team, Soil Sink, was the winner of Drawdown: Innovate, a student-led competition organised by Net Impact and supported by Interface. She has led and supported research on several themes related to sustainability including business-led solutions to tackling climate change, social sustainability, transit-oriented development and globalisation and livelihood adaptation. Her architecture thesis was on transforming transitional spaces for art biennials.

In collaboration with Biomimicry 3.8, Interface developed a methodology known as Factory as a Forest, for which we and other companies can transform facilities from ‘zero footprint’ to provide the same benefits as high-performing ecosystems. Interface and Biomimicry 3.8 recently spoke about the methodology at Sustainable Brands.
