Line Up For Striped Style

The addition of stripes can instantly make an interior space more energetic, stylish and visually interesting – which is why we love them.

Stripes are such a versatile, practical and visually appealing design tool. The ‘stripe’ is traditionally defined as a long, narrow band or strip that differs in colour or texture from the surface on either side of it, but to us it is so much more.

When applied to flooring, stripes can take a non-descript space and turn it into an engaging work of art.

In terms of patterns, stripes really are one of the simplest design features, which is why they can be applied in so many distinctive ways. Stripes can be used to accent or to highlight certain spaces by creating movement and texture through patterns such as herringbone or chevron. By simply laying carpet tile planks on a diagonal is another way to create that instant hit of interest through banding with different tones and textures.

Thick stripes applied in bold colours can be used as a way to draw the eye and create a sense of drama. Adding thick bands of colour such as yellow, red, purple or orange to a sea of grey flooring immediately energizes a flooring space. Alternatively, lean or skinny stripes applied in neutral or muted tones can help to ground an interior space, creating a subtle and relaxing atmosphere.

Stripes can also be used as a practical design technique to define an open plan area, or to add texture and depth to smaller spaces. They can also be used to visually define certain areas in an open plan office by providing pathways from one space to another, or by dividing up different work zones such as break areas or a meeting hub.

Interface’s innovative skinny plank carpet tiles allow for more flexibility and expression of design in interior spaces.

Rectangular in shape, our skinny plank tiles are twice the length and one half the width of our 50 centimetre square carpet tiles, which means they can be utilised to create visually engaging flooring solutions under foot. Available in an extensive range of colours and textures, our skinny plank range can add design inspiration to any interior aesthetic.
